The callsign server has been slightly updated. See callserv.doc.
Buckmaster's international callsign database is now supported.
All compilations uploaded this time around contain the 'ICALL'
version of the callsign database server, which is the
international database server. If any of you would prefer the
old U.S. database server which I've been doing since the Oct '91
Ham Call CD ( and which does not require 77 K of "coreleft" to
run in), let me know! The old (U.S.) database now supports
cross-referencing, but it is strictly U.S.: the Canadian
database is not available on the CD-ROM, except as part of the
international database. However, the old-style database content
on CDROM is current - i.e. updated since Oct '91, so - if U.S.
is all you want, I'd suggest you would be happier with the older
database server running the new data on the May '92 HamCall CD.
Also I did a couple corrections in the source code so that if, in
global.h, you "#undef SSVIDEO", you can get an almost vanilla
version of PA0GRI NOS, with very few of my own hacks remaining.
If anybody is interested in a source code update, let me know. I
could just upload the very few files that have been edited in
the past month. Otherwise I don't plan to upload any source til
I modify a newer version of PA0GRI's NOS.
I am back to compiling this stuff with Turbo C version 2.0. My
experience with the borlandc 3.0 - compiled stuff was that it was
a bit flakier than the Turbo-C compiled editions.
One little glitch has been fixed. I tried to reconfigure my
split-screen keyboard window at the DOS command line with the
command:
nos /////2/1/2/15/25/1/14/25
This had the effect of painting all color attributes as '0' or
black-on-black. I have fixed this so that now where values
evaluate to zero, they are not assigned. As of today, the
command above will properly leave you with default colors and
new screen sizes.
And I've not heard any complaints (You have any?), just requests
for more features. There is practically no memory left for this
stuff to run in. We need something better than MS-DOS I think,
before our packet radio programs can be everything they ought to
be.
Otherwise, nothing is new. I am going to leave it as-is. I have
heard that PA0GRI is doing some more mods and - if so, I will
do the split-screen mods on his new version when I can get it!
Hopefully it will be smaller than this one!
